形态描述
体近圆筒状，尾柄粗短。头长，吻短，略平扁。口大，下颌稍突出，颌具尖齿。有鳃辅助呼吸器官。头、体均被鳞，侧线在体前断（弯）折。背、臀鳍基部甚长。胸鳍圆；腹鳍小，前位。尾鳍圆形。体具多数不规则大小黑斑。
生物学
A snakehead fish, provided with the accessory breathing organs. Body elongate and cylindric, with long dorsal and anal fins, It inhabits the silty and weedy bottom of the rivers and ponds or lakes. It is found in the provinces to the south of the Changjiang River.
